I am an innovative scholar and emerging leader shaping international debates on World Literature Theory and Latin American Literature. My work considers the production, circulation and reception of literature across the scales of the literary world, revealing often overlooked structures and dynamics of this unequal global structure.
In my first book, McOndo Revisited (2023, Lexington), I developed World Literature theories and methodologies through an in-depth case study of the Latin American short story anthology McOndo. This monograph has led to a complete rethinking of the impact of this anthology, arguing that despite its apparent failure both critically and commercially, it is critical in historicizing a whole generation of Latin American writers.
My second book, Chilean Literature as World Literature: 1990-2025 (2026, De Gruyter) co-edited with Prof Juan Poblete (UC-Santa Cruz), is the first volume to consider Chilean literature from the perspective of world literature theories, and brings together sixteen leading scholars.
I am Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Spanish Studies at the Australian National University where I teach courses in World Literature, and Spanish literature, culture, and language.
