I'm an emerging scholar of World Literature theories and methodologies with a focus on Spanish and Latin American literature of the 20th and 21st centuries.
I analyse literatures’ various interactions with their ecologies (artistic, political, commercial, etc.) and trace their circulation and reception at national, regional or global strata. My research spans continents and numerous countries as well as many genres, such as the novel, poetry, short story, essay and anthology.
Through diverse case studies I uncover the structure and dynamics of what I call the Latin American literature-world, and consider the function of specific genres (e.g., the essay and anthology) as instruments of literary revolution and canonisation.
In my first book, McOndo Revisited (2023, Lexington), I developed World Literature theories and methodologies through an in-depth case study of the Latin American short story anthology McOndo.
I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the Australian National University where I teach Spanish language, culture, and literature.
